about us

Deke Botsford is an orthopaedic surgeon in Campbell River, BC. Dr Botsford attended the University of Toronto Medical School, and completed his orthopaedic residency there as well. He also completed 18 months of subspecialty training in Lower Extremity Reconstruction. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and is heavily involved in medical student and resident education.

Dr Botsford’s main office is in Campbell River. He also sees patients at the Bone and Joint Clinic at Campbell River Hospital, and at visiting clinics in Powell River, Pt Hardy, Pt McNeill and Tofino.

Dr. Botsford has a special interest in arthroplasty (joint replacement) and has performed over 5000 joint replacements, including hip, knee and shoulder, as well as revision arthroplasty. He works closely with the 3 other orthopaedic surgeons in Campbell River, Dr Stephen Sohmer, Dr Andrew Crosby, and Dr Taranjit Tung and our group offers a full range of orthopaedic surgery services.

Dr Botsford has a wide range of interests outside of medicine, and was a world class masters swimmer. These days he can easily be distracted by talking about surfing, but will likely move on to another sport that he’s not very good at in the near future.

Christel Patterson is the Medical Office Assistant at botsford orthopaedics. She has worked for Dr Botsford for 23 years, and is an integral part of his practice.
